NatWest and RBS 'aim to help businesses plan for the future'

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be able to receive advice from NatWest and RBS using a new online review programme.

Paul Ibbetson, chairman for small business at the firms, explained the service should help business owners to avoid pitfalls and plan for the challenges that lay ahead in their industry.

This new facility was launched after the financial institutions found that 33 per cent of SMEs are aiming to grow in the near future.

Mr Ibbetson remarked: "We've listened to our business customers and are pleased to offer this new support to help them make the most of future opportunities."

He pointed out that many companies are still unnerved by the economic uncertainty currently present in the market, which is making them think twice about investing in their operations.

Last week NatWest and RBS unveiled a new set of savings bonds offering up to six per cent interest from a balance of £5,000.
