Tesco international exposure 'makes it a solid investment'

Investing in Tesco shares could be a good way for consumers to guarantee a solid return on their investments, thanks to its increasing international presence.

Market services firm The Share Centre has maintained its position that Tesco is the best supermarket in which to invest, despite it recently announcing a slowdown in its UK sales.

Nick Raynor, The Share Centre's investment adviser, suggested this decline would be offset by its developing presence overseas, having recorded an 11.9 per cent increase in its international sales.

Other factors working in favour of those investing in Tesco include its steady margins, strong business strategy and commitment to low prices.

Mr Raynor added: "Overall, we see no reason to change our 'buy' recommendation as Tesco is a strong defensive stock that offers investors seeking growth a good return."

Earlier this month, The Share Centre drew consumers' attentions to its ranking of the world's top investment funds, including Investec Gold, the BlackRock UK Absolute Alpha fund and the Invesco Perpetual Latin American fund.
