uSwitch.com finds 33m consumers have money fears for after Budget

As many as 33 million people living in the UK are worried about their finances as a result of the emergency Budget.

According to a study from uSwitch.com, 67 per cent of the country now think that they are in a worse financial situation as a result of the measures introduced by the coalition government earlier this week.

In addition, 42 per cent are more confident about the state of the nation's finances, but on a personal level 51 per cent feel less certain about their own.

Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at the website, said that many people are making plans avoid spending more for their goods in the new year.

"Now that the VAT hike has become a reality, many are thinking of rushing big ticket items through before January when the increase kicks-in," she explained.

Recently, Andrew Hagger of Moneynet stated that he did not think the 2.5 per cent rise in VAT would have any affect on how much customers were willing to spend.
