Consumers looking for a savings account with a competitive rate could try the Post Office Reward Saver.

The institution has announced it is to launch the new product, which comes with a 2.5 per cent AER variable rate, through its branches, online and over the phone today (July 5th).

This product allows for two different forms of cash withdrawal, depending on how quickly consumers want to access their funds.

Free withdrawals are available with 30 days notice, while instant access is also on offer, but it will be charged at a month's interest rate. Consumers are able to make as many withdrawals as they choose over the course of a year.

Post Office director of savings and investments Richard Norman said: "Savers get even more flexibility with the option to have their interest paid monthly or yearly and all applicants can benefit whether they are investing £500 or £2 million."

The Post Office also recently added to its mortgage range with a 90 per cent loan to value deal.
