Bupa insurance calls for state-individual partnership

One possible way to combat the need for care funding is to create some form of partnership between the state and consumers, according to Bupa insurance.

Oliver Thomas, director of care homes at the organisation, claimed that the firm's research shows that demand for care is likely to increase in the future.

He highlighted Parkinson's and dementia as two of the diseases that are likely to cause more professional help to be needed.

Mr Thomas stressed that such healthcare assistance must be paid for, but people deserve to get relevant help no matter what.

"With the pressures that public finances are under, it's clear that any new money will have to come from other sources," he explained.

Last week, Bupa insurance announced the results of its Bupa Fitbug Parliamentary Challenge, with David Davis, Fiona Mactaggart and Simon Wright winning the accolades for the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties respectively.
