M&S Money pet insurance issues heat stroke advice

Dog owners have been advised by M&S Money pet insurance they need to be wary of their animal companion suffering from heat stroke over the summer.

The financial services provider explained that preventing the illness is better than trying to cure it.

Among the tips it offered to stop dogs from getting heat stroke are keeping fresh cool water available at all times, avoiding too much exercise on hot days and never leaving the canine in the car on its own.

M&S Money pet insurance said: "When a dog is exposed to high temperatures they can suffer from heat stroke - a very serious condition which requires immediate medical attention."

The company stated that the UK is going through its driest period for more than 80 years.

However, pet owners in the north-west of England may not be as worried, since they have had to endure torrential rain recently, despite a hose-pipe ban.
