Confused.com insurance highlights impact of life changes

Consumers should remember that major changes in their lives could signify the need to alter their level of cover, an expert from Confused.com insurance has suggested.

Head of life insurance at the company Matthew Lloyd pointed out that having the wrong level of protection could have a major impact if a claim needs to be made.

He suggested that people should review their life cover every time there is a major change in their lives, such as when they get married, divorced or have children.

Confused.com insurance research indicated that 60 per cent of people do not have such a policy, while only 30 per cent have ever switched providers.

"The fact that so few people with life insurance have ever switched provider suggests that they may not be reviewing it, making regularly monthly payments and forgetting about it," commented Mr Lloyd.

Last week, the firm revealed that UK consumers spend an average of £18,500 each year on bills.
