Sun Life Financial of Canada highlights importance of flexibility in savings accounts

A finance expert from Sun Life Financial of Canada has stressed the importance of flexibility when it comes to pensions plans.

Mark Stopard, head of marketing at the company, made his comments after the government announced that the default retirement age would be scrapped.

He welcomed this decision and described the previous policy as "archaic", but noted that it is now up to long-term savings accounts providers to deliver effective products to match new regulations.

Mr Stopard lauded the significance of flexibility in such arrangements and stated that he is looking forward to seeing what the new rules regarding retirement end up being.

"Sun Life Financial of Canada firmly supports any legislative progress which provides consumers with more options when it comes to saving, investing and taking a flexible income," he added.

The finance expert recently commented on the suitability of comparison sites for choosing annuities, claiming it is vital that consumers get good quality advice when they are making their decision.
