Pension calculator Scottish Widows notes retirement worries

Scottish Widows has pointed out that retirement brings with it a fresh selection of worries, such as not having enough money to enjoy life after finishing work.

Savings expert at the firm Alison Morris highlighted how many retirees find it very stressful to go from putting up with a very busy working day in their profession to having a lot of time on their hands when they become a pensioner.

In her view, it is advisable to prepare as much as possible for retirement, both emotionally and financially.

"It is not just the financial shift that people have to prepare for when they retire, but the lifestyle change that comes with it," explained the Scottish Widows spokesperson.

Research by the firm showed that 27 per cent of retirees found the transition stressful.

Scottish Widows recently welcomed the scrapping of the default retirement age and claimed that it will give people added flexibility in their lives.
