Car insurance for young drivers provider Direct Line warns sleepy motorists

Andy Goldby, director of motor pricing and underwriting at the insurance firm, said drivers who are fatigued risk causing a deadly accident.
This, he stated, is because tired motorists have slower reaction times and their awareness of the road is significantly reduced.
Mr Goldby encouraged road users to take a break if they start to feel sleepy, as arriving at their destination slightly late is preferable to not arriving at all.
"It's not worth the risk to themselves, their passengers or other road users," he commented.
Mr Goldby was speaking after research by Direct Line and Brake found that 74 per cent of those polled admitted driving while tired in the last year.
He described this as a "worrying trend".
This comes after The Co-operative Insurance revealed that more than half of drivers routinely engage in habits such as smoking, eating and putting on make-up when behind the wheel.
