NatWest encourages students looking for debt relief to budget

Students looking for debt relief have been encouraged by NatWest to actively manage their finances.

According to Tom Adamson, head of NatWest Student and Graduate Banking, those who plan their money effectively can make the most of their time at university.

He recommended that students budget accordingly and make sure they know exactly what outgoings they have.

"More than ever, students are being pro-active with their finances, which is great," Mr Adamson commented.

He was speaking after a NatWest report showed that a growing number of students are choosing to work part-time in order to make ends meet while at university.

London was flagged up as a particularly cost-effective place to study, as the average annual wages for students are around £5,000.

This means they are able to offset much of the average £205.25 they must pay in rent and general living costs every week.

Mr Adamson said he was surprised to see London named as the most cost-effective place to study, but attributed this to the city's strong part-time employment prospects.
