Price comparison site moneysupermarket.com offers tips for choosing best student bank account

Anyone heading to university should try to sort out a good bank account early on in their course, according to moneysupermarket.com.

Clare Francis, site editor at the organisation, urged students to choose a banking services provider based on the interest rates and overdraft terms offered, as opposed to the freebies an account may involve.

"Whilst freshers' week or even fortnight is more exciting than choosing a bank account, it is important to get your finances in order from the off," she remarked.

Ms Francis suggested more thrifty students may even want to keep an eye on in-credit interest rates, since people will not necessarily live their entire student lives in the red.

In her view, it is currently the right time to look for the best student bank accounts on the market.

This week, moneysupermarket.com revealed that 56 per cent of Brits have dipped into their savings recently when they had not planned to, according to its research.
