Insurance for young drivers provider Asda 'drops cost of motoring'

Asda has announced that it has cut the price of petrol at its service stations, with a representative describing how the move is "the right thing to do".

The car insurance provider's commercial director Phil Briggs claimed that many retailers are happy to leave their prices high and let the consumer foot the bill.

He even suggested that some gas stations might try to inflate the cost if they believe they can get away with it.

"When it comes to petrol pricing we keep it simple - we try to be the first to drop the cost, wherever you live," said Mr Briggs.

Asda cut the cost of unleaded to 110.9p and diesel to 113.9p, effective from Wednesday August 25th.

Earlier this year, the supermarket giant and insurance services supplier announced a cut in the cost of petrol at its service stations, after its disposable income tracker index showed that British families have £8 less on average to spend each week on such expenses.
