Steve Sweeney, head of car insurance at the price comparison site, noted that some youngsters are getting involved in staging car crashes in order to claim cash.
He described this as a "step too far" and pointed out that it could lead to long-term consequences for anyone caught taking part in such activities.
"We have all been affected by the recession in one way or another, but crashing for cash is not only illegal but wilfully endangers the lives of others," he remarked.
He cited research by moneysupermarket.com as showing that there are a lot of people getting away with fraudulent claims and this is pushing up the cost of cover for innocent motorists.
Recently, AA Insurance opined that price comparison sites are leading more people to enter in false details in order to bring down the cost of their policy.
