Customers should consider fee on Sainsburys Finance product, says Confused.com

Confused.com has highlighted how the new Sainsburys Finance Gold Credit Card involves paying £5 each month.

Chris Griffiths, head of credit cards at the firm, suggested consumers weigh up whether this cost is worthwhile for the benefits they utilise, since it adds up to £60 per year.

He was full of praise for the perks offered by the product, but stressed that the features "come at a price" and some things are not as simple as they initially appear.

"Users should also remember that while a cash advance is fee free, it is only interest free if you pay your balance in full and on time each month," explained Mr Griffiths.

In his view, people should shop around before signing up for a credit card account, since this will allow them to find one that suits their circumstances best.

On launching the Sainsburys Finance Gold Credit Card, spokesperson for the organisation Stuart McKeggie highlighted how rare it is to find a card that is useful at home as well as abroad.
