Legal & General Isa rates 'not the only incentive currently'

Consumers keen on moving their cash from their current Isa can receive a cash bonus from Legal & General.

Claire Evans, marketing director at the firm's Investments arm, explained how the promotional offer is an attempt by the firm to make sure people do not just think about their Isas in April, when the financial year begins.

Investors can receive £100 if they swap their current Isa for one from Legal & General, with applications needing to be received by October 1st 2010.

Ms Evans stressed that such financial products need not be seen as long-term arrangements, saying: "Isas can be seen either as money that can be dipped into when necessary or a longer-term investment for a big spend in the future."

This week, Legal & General unveiled research showing that a significant proportion of British men are putting money aside so that they will be in a strong position if they lose their jobs, with 40 per cent of male savers doing it for this reason.
