Confused.com lauds credit card debt consolidation possibilities

A new product launched by MBNA has been praised by Confused.com for offering customers a great opportunity to reduce how much interest they pay on credit card debt.

The Platinum Plus card offers people zero per cent interest on balance transfers for 16 months with a 2.9 per cent fee, which head of credit cards at Confused.com Chris Griffiths has complimented.

He said: "It's great for consumers looking to reduce interest payments through consolidation to see another provider launching a long-term zero per cent deal."

In his opinion, the unveiling of this product could affect the strategies of other companies in the sector.

Mr Griffiths claimed offering such a deal to consumers is indicative that MBNA is trying to attract new customers.

Last week, Confused.com representative Stephen Jones observed a rate cap on payday loans may not work and could even push people to go to illegal lenders and loan sharks.
