Sainsburys Finance highlights benefits of credit card shopping

A representative from Sainsburys Finance has lauded the perks offered by credit cards with regards to shopping for gifts.

Stuart McKeggie, head of the company's credit card division, described such accounts as being a "safe and convenient" method of buying items and noted that many will offer rewards for spending with them.

"It is important to ensure that you have the right card for you in terms of the rate, the introductory deal and the rewards on offer," he remarked.

Mr McKeggie pointed out that the difficult weather conditions disrupted many people's Christmas shopping plans, with plenty of individuals likely to have been rushing around the shops as late as Christmas Eve.

Sainsburys Finance research predicted that at least £555 million would be spent by UK consumers the day before Christmas.

Last week, the company issued a warning to festive revellers regarding the dangers of decorative lights and candles, urging them to check their smoke alarms ahead of celebrations.
