Retirement calculator issues dominate at unbiased.co.uk in 2010

Independent financial advice website unbiased.co.uk has unveiled statistics regarding the most popular searches of the past 12 months, with a source from the firm making a prediction regarding the coming year.

The company found that 38 per cent of queries on the site related to retirement and pensions, way ahead of the second-placed investment and savings category, which accounted for 26 per cent of the searches.

Karen Barrett, chief executive of the firm, said: "With expected changes to pensions and benefits, and the recent VAT increase, we anticipate that even more consumers will be looking to reassess their finances in 2011."

She cited statistics produced by unbiased.co.uk as evidence that demand for independent financial advice has not faltered throughout the year, with retirement queries proving to be the most popular topic during every month of 2010.

This week, the website highlighted how January is traditionally the most common time for couples to get a divorce, but suggested the economic climate may prompt more wedded individuals to stay together.
