Fixed rate mortgage holders offered selling tips by NAEA

Fixed rate mortgage customers hoping to relocate this year have been offered a number of tips from the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA).

According to the group, the single best way of making your home look more attractive to buyers is to clean up the clutter.

While many fixed rate mortgage holders may be looking at the bigger picture when trying to sell up, the association noted it is "often the smaller, unconsidered factor which actually result in a sale".

An open day to show a number of buyers a home in the same day could also be a great way of speeding up a sale.

Those willing to splash cash on selling their property could consider an extension, said the NAEA.

More than 40 per cent of NAEA members believe that such work that is both well planned and built is the best way to add value to a home.

Commenting recently ahead of a meeting between the housing minister Grant Shapp and the FSA, NAEA chief executive Peter Bolton King called for lending options to be made available to "responsible" people.
