Saga Travel Insurance says customers leave it late

Latest findings from Saga Travel Insurance have revealed that four out of ten people put off getting their travel insurance until the last minute.

According to research by the firm people wait until a month before their departure date, which means if cancellations needed to be made before this point they would not be covered.

The company warned that as well as not being covered until later on, the decision to leave insurance cover could also result in consumers picking the wrong insurance option.

Saga's travel insurance covers consumers for a list of reasons including accidental bodily injury or illness of the insured or of a relative or friend they have arranged to travel or stay with and their home becoming uninhabitable following accidental damage.

In addition, the product covers the need for the customer to be present following a burglary at their home.
