Leeds Building Society fixed rate mortgages 'affordable'

A source from Leeds Building Society has lauded the affordability of a range of new fixed rate mortgages.

Sales and marketing director at the company Kim Rebecchi claimed the products could deliver peace of mind for customers who are worried about potential changes to the base rate.

Leeds Building Society has launched a two-year arrangement at 3.7 per cent interest and a three-year deal at 4.15 per cent interest, with both of these relating to 75 per cent loan-to-value (LTV) mortgages.

"Many customers will welcome the ability to budget and limit their monthly outgoings, particularly those mortgage customers who may be coming to the end of their current deal," said Ms Rebecchi.

The deals are available at higher LTVs, but the interest rate is increased, the smaller the deposit handed over.

Last month, the lender unveiled a ten-year fixed rate mortgage at 5.99 per cent. It is available at up to 80 per cent LTV and allows ten per cent capital repayments each year without penalty.
