Admiral Insurance conducts survey on effects of fuel prices

Drivers looking for the best deals on car insurance could be surprised to hear the findings of a recent Admiral survey.

YouGov conducted a study on behalf of the car insurance company to examine the effects increasing fuel prices had on motorists.

Findings revealed that 92 per cent of drivers feel that petrol prices are too high, with 17 per cent sacrificing the cost of repairs in a bid to save money.

In addition, 51 per cent of motorists revealed they had made a conscious effort to spend less time driving due to the increase in fuel costs.

The study also found that eight per cent of people had ignored problems with their tyres due to the high price of replacements.

Sue Longthorn, managing director of Admiral, voiced concern over the safety of motorists driving their vehicle with unsafe tyres.

She added: "This could cause more serious problems long term and could even cause them to have an accident."

The car insurance company recently revealed that rear-end vehicle bumps accounted for one in four of all road accidents, with figures reaching 405,000 per year.
