Yorkshire Building Society reduces rates on mortgage deals

Borrowers wishing to save on their biggest monthly outgoings could benefit from changes to mortgage rates announced by Yorkshire Building Society.

The lender has unveiled plans to cut the cost of five-year fixed-rate products to 3.99 per cent for prospective homeowners.

Fixed-rate mortgages have been highlighted as an ideal solution for people who are worried about a potential increase to the Bank of England's interest rates.

The five-year products are now available at 75 per cent loan-to-value and include options for holders who want to keep their savings intact.

Chris Smith, the building society's group mortgage manager, said: "Choosing a fixed-rate mortgage gives borrowers peace of mind about their repayments and helps them to budget each month."

Yorkshire Building society, which is a mutual organisation, has 178 branches in a network of agencies throughout the UK.

The company currently has 2.8 million members who provide assets in excess of £30 billion.
