Co-operative launches long-term fixed-rate mortgage products

A new ten-year fixed-rate mortgage product has been launched by The Co-operative Bank and Britannia, marking the firm's re-entry into the long-term fixed-rate sector.

Available to customers with 75 per cent loan to value, the ten-year fixed rate deal offers a rate of 5.29 per cent with a fee of £999 and 5.69 per cent for those who do not wish to pay any upfront costs.

In addition, rates for three and five-year deals were reduced by the mortgage provider.

James Hillon, head of mortgages at The Co-operative Bank, said: "The reduction in rates across the rest of the fixed-rate range also provides good news to borrowers who have the added option of both fee and fee-free products to suit their individual needs."

Meanwhile, the mortgage provider announced last week that it has increased its rates on fixed-term deposits by 0.4 per cent.

Savers will benefit from this improved rate on one-year products, while those with two and three-year fixed deals will see a boost of 0.25 per cent.
