Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the organisation, claimed the level of importance of travel insurance to consumers is matched only by how cheap it actually is.
"Travel insurance is very, very cheap. It is certainly very cheap for a UK trip," Mr Trudgill explained.
He added that the cover a policy provides depends on "how long you're going away for [and] whether you're heading to more far out places".
Mr Trudgill said that insurance also depends on other variables such as how much money a person is spending, as well as the healthcare provision of a country people are travelling to.
He added that insurance for UK trips should not be ruled out either.
Saga's travel insurance terms were recently updated to cover over-50s who enjoy breaks within the British Isles. The firm claimed it was changing its policies to account for the growing number of people choosing to holiday at home.
