Co-op announces banking improvements to premier accounts

Premier and Privilege Premier customers at the Co-operative Bank are set to benefit from a range of new features announced today (September 21st).

Responding to customer feedback, the bank claimed that a number of features have been enhanced in order to better serve its clients.

Improvements include extending cover for its travel insurance, provided by AXA, while account holders will now benefit from UK and European breakdown cover by RAC on a personal basis rather than just for their nominated means of transport.

Co-operative's head of banking Robin Taylor said: "Features such as the breakdown cover have proven really popular with customers so we've focused on really improving these benefits."

He added that following the introduction of packaged accounts three years ago, the bank has constantly gauged customer usage and opinion, while also introducing another 245 high street banks.

Mr Taylor said that customers now "have easier access than ever to the services they need" as a consequence of the expansion.

Many of the Co-op's high street banks were adapted from existing Britannia branches following the acquisition of the building society on August 1st 2009.
