Investment in land 'continues to be popular'

Investment in land across the UK continues to be a popular choice among individuals who wish to see a consistent return and safeguard their funds at the same time, it has been claimed.

Peter Crichton, a land auctioneer, said people are purchasing land for thousands of pounds and it is big business in the UK.

The main benefits include long-term price stability and growth, with an acre of the best farmland in the UK worth more than £10,000 at present.

He commented: "Very little land now gets sold by auction because the vast majority is sold by best and final sealed offers, sealed bids, that arrangement."

Meanwhile, Phil Stevenson, chartered financial planner at Ark Financial Planning, recently argued that anyone hoping to have a comfortable retirement should do their best to secure the most favourable pension arrangements when they reach retirement age.

He noted that annuity rates should hopefully stabilise in the years ahead as the issue of longevity is tackled by the markets, giving Brits more options for the future.
