Alliance & Leicester Premier Plus account rate extended

Alliance & Leicester is to extend the five per cent fixed AER credit interest rate on its Premier Plus account for a further six months.

The group has promised that new customers will be able to take advantage of the best buy credit interest rate for 15 months until September 30th 2006.

Alliance & Leicester has pointed out that its Premier Plus best buy rate offers as much as 50 times more credit interest than a traditional "Big Four" current account.

The group says it is offering the new rate following research which showed that 42 per cent of people believe a better rate of interest would encourage them to switch accounts.

Nearly half of us (47 per cent) think that the switching process is too time consuming, while 25 per cent think it requires too much filling out of forms.

Alliance & Leicester has pointed out that consumers who want to switch to the company to take advantage of its new Premier Plus extended offer need only fill in one simple form.
