Britannia one-year fixed bond launched

Britannia's new one-year fixed rate bond offers savers an ideal short-term solution as they assess the uncertain economic climate.

With economists divided as to whether an interest rate cut is on the cards, many savers are unsure about whether to take out a fixed rate bond or apply for a market-based equity savings account.

The mutual building society's new product will enable these savers to earn impressive returns on their capital over the next 12 months, without committing them to a long-term deal.

The Britannia bond offers a gross annual return of 4.75 per cent (3.80 per cent net) on all investments over £1,000.

It also offers a monthly interest option of 4.5 per cent gross (4.59 to 3.60 per cent net).

The bond is available to all savers from July 13th.
