Swiss Re board nominates former Swiss Confederation president for membership

BRUSSELS, EU - The Swiss Re board of directors is to propose that Kaspar Villiger, former president of the Swiss Confederation, be elected to join its members at the next Annual General Meeting in May.

The board will nominate Mr Villiger, currently Federal Councillor of Switzerland, for a four-year term of office as an additional non-executive and independent director.

"I am delighted that Kaspar Villiger has agreed to his nomination,” Peter Forstmoser, chairman of the Swiss Re board stated.

“Given his outstanding experience as a former President and Councillor of the Swiss Confederation and as an entrepreneur he will be an excellent addition to our board of directors,” he added.

Kaspar Villiger served as Federal Councillor to Switzerland since election in 1989 until the end of last year, during which time he headed both the Federal Military Department and Federal Department of Finance.
