American Express i-Track launched

Long suffering travelers may finally have a solution to the problem of lost luggage thanks to American Express travel insurance.

The American Express i-Trak system allows airlines and airports to track lost luggage using a unique bar code. Anyone who have possession of the luggage can use the labels to contact the owner via email, text message or the web.

The company will give i-Trak labels to every new travel insurance customer. Once registered, they will be able to use the service free for twelve months.

Joanne Field, marketing manager at American Express travel insurance, said that the i-Trak system offered a "modern, innovative solution".

American Express travel insurance claim that problems with loss luggage are amongst the top three claims they receive, costing on average £580 per claim.
