Yorkshire fixed rate mortgage aimed at remortgagers

Yorkshire Building Society has announced the launch of a new fixed rate mortgage over two years, with a competitive mortgage rate and additional benefits for remortgage customers.

The Yorkshire fixed rate mortgage offers a mortgage rate of 4.39 per cent for homeowners who want to switch from their existing mortgage.

Remortgage customers will also receive fee legal services, and property valuation fees will be refunded. Customers also qualify for free insurance for the first six months, covering accidents, illness or unemployment.

This new Yorkshire fixed rate mortgage was launched after the mortgage lender noticed a surge in remortgage applications.

"At the Yorkshire we usually design products that are available to everyone, whether they are moving home or just switching their mortgage, but it seemed appropriate at this time to design a product specifically for the remortgagers," commented the society's Rachel Court, head of mortgages.

Interest on the remortgage is calculated on a day-by-day basis, and mortgage holders could choose to overpay up to ten per cent of the mortgage value every year.
