Norwich Union Protection Promise launched

The new Norwich Union Protection Promise has been launched and both mortgage life insurance and term assurance holders can benefit from the new scheme.

Policyholders now receive free life cover for a maximum of three months between the application and acceptance of a new policy.

In addition, the amount payable to the policyholder upon death is either £1 million, or twice the sum assured – whichever is lower.

Lawrence Jackson, head of risk products at Norwich Union, said: "By placing customers ‘on risk’ as soon as we receive an application we are giving them security and peace of mind throughout the application process."

However, the Norwich Union Protection Promise will not cover customers who commit suicide, or who die from "pre-existing conditions at the time of application or critical illness claims".
