Gartmore High Income Trust releases results

The Gartmore High Income Trust has performed 1.1 per cent ahead of the FTSE All-Share Index for the six months up to the end of September.

This is equivalent to a 14.7 per cent gain for investors – in total return terms.

Brian Gallagher, the senior investment manager for the trust, said the results showed that the "balanced approach" worked to pay dividends.

He spoke of the trust's good performance saying it was possible because it is not "limited to just investing in stocks with yields above a certain level".

Now the trust will continue to focus on its long-term goals rather than short term trading and cash generation, he concluded.

The Gartmore High Income Trust is due to end in March 2006.
