Saga Telephone Service predicts expensive Christmas for callers

Saga Telephone Service has predicted that six times as many international calls will be made on Christmas day compared to the average day.

Australia looks set to be the most popular calling destination, with ten times the number of calls expected to be made there than on average.

Andrew Goodsell of Saga said: "A call can shorten the distance for those unable to be together and it needn’t prove costly if people shop around for a tariff to suit their lifestyle."

Saga charges a rate of five pence per minute to a number of calling destinations including Australia and the US.

Saga Telephone Service has introduced a new set of prices aimed at people over 50 wishing to make such calls.
