Alliance & Leicester Personal Loans recommends debt consolidation

Alliance & Leicester Personal Loans has found that Britons that consolidate their debts into one low-rate loan could save over £1,000.

The findings were made at the same that Alliance & Leicester Personal Loans carried out a survey into how people will manage financially this Christmas.

Some 29 per cent of people said they would be borrowing money towards their Christmas spending, but only seven per cent said they would consolidate their debts.

Clare Alvey, personal loans manager at Alliance & Leicester, said: "Debt consolidation is a sensible way of borrowing for anyone who has debt spread across more expensive store cards, credit cards or point-of-sale finance deals."

Furthermore, with a personal loan, consumers will be paying a set amount every month at a fixed rate, rather than trying to juggle a number of different repayments and rates.
