Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance calls for more transparent marketplace

Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance is calling on pet insurers to make policy wording clearer in a bid to make the marketplace more transparent.

In addition, it proposes that policies be reviewed to incorporate the increasing cost of veterinary treatment to ensure that customers are not left with bills after their pet falls ill.

Furthermore, Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance has proposed that a charter is set up, detailing what the minimum policy cover should be.

David Pickett, pet insurance manager at Sainsbury's Bank, said: "As vet fees continue to rise, pet insurance has never been more important and the industry should do more to encourage and help pet owners to take out appropriate insurance for their animals."

The call for an improvement to the industry comes shortly after Sainsbury's Bank pet insurance was identified as a Defaqto top ten best buy.
