Standard Life investment bonds hit £1bn mark

Over £1 billion has been invested in Standard Life investment bonds this year, the highest annual investment in the range since it was launched.

The billion mark sales represents a 40 per cent increase from 2004 and is dominated by the capital investment bond and the distribution bond.

Bond sales have benefited from recent product enhancements and a growing confidence in the investment market, Standard Life said.

Gerry McGrath, product marketing manager for savings and investments, said: "We are delighted to break the £1 billion barrier in bonds sales for this year – we have made a lot of enhancements to our bond offering in the last year and we are now reaping the benefits."

The changes include a greater range of funds, introduction of free switches and a choice of bond charging structure.
