Citibank current account alerting service launched

A new Citibank current account alerting service has been launched to give customers online or mobile banking updates.

The service, which is free, means that customers can keep track of their money more easily, the bank said.

All Citibank current account activity can be monitored via the service, which is available by text message or email.

On the standard service, weekly updates will be sent with information on account balances, overdraft notifications and large debits.

Tobias van der Meer, Citi UK Consumer Group marketing director, said: "This new service gives customers enhanced security against possible fraudulent transactions.

"Unlike competitor products Citi offers consumers the ability to choose the time an alert is received," he added.

Citibank's alerting service is already live in 20 countries around the world.

The bank expects an increasing number of UK consumers to use mobile phones and the internet for their banking needs.
