Lloyds TSB Insurance says Brits will bin billions

Almost two in five Brits will spend £4.4. billion on their Christmas feasts but over a quarter of it will go in the bin, Lloyds TSB Insurance says.

A survey by the insurer reveals that 44 per cent think Christmas excess is fine and 37 per cent do not have enough room to store their holiday food shopping.

Phil Loney, managing director at Lloyds TSB Insurance, said: "It is this overloading that can cause freezers to break, resulting in spoilt food and misery at Christmas dinner tables across the country."

But the Lloyds TSB Insurance Home Solutions policy could solve the dilemma as it offers freezer cover for spoilt food of up to £500, the company said.

Lloyds TSB, formed by a bank merger in 1995, has operations in 27 countries worldwide.
