Yorkshire one-year variable rate savings bond launched

A new Yorkshire one-year variable rate savings bond was launched today, aimed at all levels of savers.

The new bond is only available for a limited period and comes with a 4.75 per cent rate, guaranteed to always pay 0.25 per cent above the Bank of England base rate.

Moreover, the minimum investment is only £100, the building society said, adding that additional deposits can be made throughout the one-year term.

"This new bond is aimed at investors who wish to save their money for a period of at least a year in return for a guaranteed rate of interest," said Chris Edwards, Yorkshire savings product manager.

He added that demand for the Yorkshire one-year variable rate savings bond is expected to be high since customer feedback has shown a desire for a choice between fixed rate accounts and high interest variable accounts.

Yorkshire is one of the UK's largest building societies with 131 branches across the country.
