Britannia mortgage launched for first-time buyers

A Britannia mortgage has been launched, aimed at first-time buyers.

The mortgage, which will be launched tomorrow, comes with a fixed rate of 4.99 per cent.

There are no administration or arrangement fees payable by potential first-time buyers, furthermore, no higher lending charges apply.

In total, customers could save over £600 in fees by choosing this Britannia mortgage.

Tim Franklin, managing director of member business at Britannia, said that it was "hard enough" for first-time buyers to save for the initial deposit, without having to worry about additional administration costs.

Meanwhile, customers who have saved up for a deposit will be rewarded, as the Britannia mortgage can be tailored to the individual.

The mortgage has been divided into three tiers - which one a particular customer falls into depends on how much has been saved for the deposit.
