American Express credit cards committed to cashback

American Express has confirmed that it will remain committed to offering customers cashback on purchases made on its credit cards.

The news comes shortly after Nationwide made an announcement stating it was withdrawing its cashback offer.

Tom Allder, head of card lending at American Express, said that its customers can "rest assured that they will continue to benefit" from cashback deals.

Customers that have an American Express credit card can get 0.5 per cent cashback on purchases up to the value of £2,000 and one per cent for amounts higher than this.

Those who are new to American Express receive double cashback for the first three months.

Meanwhile, those with a platinum American Express credit card get 0.5 per cent for spending up to £3,000, one per cent for purchases between £3,001 and £7,500, and two per cent for transactions exceeding this amount.
