West Bromwich Baby Bond launched

A West Bromwich child trust fund that is also Shariah-compliant has been launched.

The society will offer the service to Muslim families living throughout the Midlands who have previously had problems finding a suitable product.

Money paid into the West Bromwich Baby Bond will be invested in the FTSE Global Islamic Index and the fund will be supervised by a Shariah Advisory Board of Scholars.

Andy Heseltine, product manager at West Bromwich Building Society, said: "By offering Shariah baby Bonds ... it means Muslim customers will confidently be able to invest according to their Islamic principles, consistent with Shariah law."

The West Bromwich Baby Bond is being offered in conjunction with Children's Mutual.
