Leeds Direct Saver Plus launched

The Leeds Direct Saver Plus account has been launched and will offer customers a guaranteed rate of 4.6 per cent gross per annum until April 1st 2007.

Furthermore, if the Bank of England base rate rises above 4.6 per cent, then the higher rate will be paid.

Karen Wint, head of marketing at Leeds Building Society, said the account was "an integral part" of investor's portfolios.

One reason she cited for this is that Leeds Direct Saver Plus account holders will be able to access their money at any time and make penalty free withdrawals, as long as the amount withdrawn is at least £1,000.

The account is accessible only via post and the minimum opening balance stands at £5,000.
