first direct travel money offer extended

The first direct travel money offer, which gives customers fee-free currency exchange services online, has been extended until May 31st.

Now holidaymakers travelling over the May bank holiday and Easter can "get a great deal on their foreign currency", claims the bank.

Richard Kimber, chief executive at first direct, said that according to a recent survey, only 55 per cent of travellers shop around for the best deals on currency exchange.

This could leave British tourists exchanging an average of £531 up to £13.49 out of pocket, according to the bank.

Sean Gardner, chief executive of MoneyExpert.com, a financial comparison business, said: "At MoneyExpert.com we specialise in helping people save cash on their financial products, utilities and insurance, and we are therefore pleased to support the launch of first direct's money-saving offer."

With first direct travel money customers will receive their cash or travellers cheques by next day home delivery.
