Halifax two-year fixed-rate mortgage on offer

A Halifax two-year fixed-rate mortgage is currently available with an interest level set at 4.45 per cent until April 30th 2008.

When this date is reached, the offer will revert to the standard variable rate at the time – this is currently 6.5 per cent – and remain at that rate for the term of the mortgage.

The overall cost for comparison of this package is 6.4 per cent annual percentage rate, reports financial website Mortgage Introducer.

If all or part of the mortgage loan is repaid during the opening 24-month fixed-rate period, an early repayment charge will apply.

Valuation and arrangement fees of £300 and £699 respectively are set on the deal and these can be added to the overall amount of the loan.

Halifax claims to be the UK's number one mortgage lender and also offers credit cards, personal loans and insurance.
