Yorkshire Internet Saver account offering new option

A monthly option of the Yorkshire Internet Saver account has been made available today with an interest rate of 4.6 per cent gross per year and 4.7 per cent annual equivalent rate.

The offer comes based on customer feedback, according to Yorkshire, and also has a rate guarantee which ensures that its interest level will not drop below the Bank of England base rate before February 28th 2007.

Instant access to the Yorkshire Internet Saver account is permitted and any level of saver can take it up with a minimum opening balance of £1.

All transactions can be made on the internet, or customers can also take up a cashcard which enables them to withdraw up to £250 per day from cash machines.

Chris Edwards, head of mortgages and savings at Yorkshire, said: "The introduction of a monthly interest option on the Internet Saver account is as a direct result of [customer] feedback and, as it is now one of the top paying monthly interest accounts, is likely to be very appealing to those who rely on their savings for income."

Yorkshire Building Society is a mutual organisation with 131 branches and 75 agencies across the UK.
