Northern Rock Fixed-Rate Bonds available

Three new Northern Rock Fixed-Rate Bonds have been introduced, with a rate of 4.65 per cent gross per year.

Customers can elect to take up this fixed-rate for one, two or three years and must invest a minimum of £1.

Interest from the Northern Rock Fixed-Rate Bonds can be paid on a monthly or annual basis, although if interest is paid monthly, the rate will be 0.3 per cent lower than the annual rate.

Any withdrawals made during the bonds' fixed-rate periods will incur a charge relative to the amount withdrawn.

An equivalent of 60, 90 and 120 days gross interest on the sum taken out will take effect in the one, two and three-year bonds respectively.

Transfers can be made into the Northern Rock Fixed-Rate Bonds from any other variable rate accounts held with the company free of charge.
